    Abstract

The model includes modules for physical dimensions of the irrigation canal system, water allocation, simulation of distribution and salinity of irrigation including reuse of drainage water, on-farm water management including :evapotranspiration of crops and the dynamics of soil salinity, and regional drainage water discharge. The output relates to water and salt balances of irrigation system, sub-region, crop, drainage catchment, and the whole study area. The package facilitates the evaluation of decisions related to water use efficiency, supplied quantities, allocation policies, land reclamation, additional water resources, cropping pattern, groundwater reservoirs, global climate, water management and socio-economical developments.
