De effecten van het gebruik van draadloze afrastering op gedrag en welzijn van melkkoeien en andere runderen: Literatuuronderzoek

Research output: Book/ReportReportProfessional

Abstract

The aim of this literature study was to investigate the effects of virtual fencing on welfare and behaviour of cattle. International research shows that virtual fencing has no negative nor positive effects on behavior and stress parameters in young stock, beef and dairy cattle in comparison with electric fencing. No to little differences were found in resting and eating behaviors, heart rate and cortisol levels in milk and manure of animals that grazed within virtual fencing or electric fencing. The majority of animals learned to deal with the virtual fence within one or a few days, and after a few days hardly any electric shocks were received.
