Abstract

This Jupyter Notebook calculates the number of open job vacancies in the agrifood sector related to the data economy across various European countries. The methodology involves querying the Google Jobs platform through SerpApi, a paid API service, using specific keywords that cover topics such as “digital agriculture” and “data food” in multiple languages. First, keyword phrases are generated for each of the 24 official European languages, including four main phrases: Digital Agriculture, Digital Food, Data Agriculture, and Data Food. These phrases are translated into each language to ensure broad coverage. The script then performs country-specific searches across 27 European countries, using both the official languages of each country and English, resulting in unique query sets per country to capture job postings in both local and international contexts. The Google Jobs API returns job postings for each query, which are processed to ensure that only unique job listings are counted. The output is a count of open vacancies per country, providing a snapshot of demand in the agrifood data economy.
