D-Net: Online Diabetes Hub for Health Professional Worldwide

To facilitate sharing of interdisciplinary knowledge globally, the Interna- tional Diabetes Federation (IDF) developed D-NET, a free online forum for health professional working in diabetes worldwide. Currently 3,787 mem- bers from 153 countries are registered with a steady increase of 100 mem- bers per month. (See overview in Table 1) D-NET platform is available in Eng- lish and Spanish with the following key features: Discussions—Bi-weekly discussion by international experts. In 2015, 26 discussions were success- ful conducted. Library—D-NET members are able to share and download valuable resources for e.g., articles, guidelines, and videos. Currently there are more than 250 items available. Events—Updates the members with the latest events across the globe and allows D-NET members to upload their own events. Ask D-NET— Any queries or support can be requested from the D-NET community in this open forum. Online education modules—An inter- active, evidence-based module on introduction on diabetes was launched in November 2015, with 405 members visited the module, and 111 successfully completed the module. In November 2015 a survey of 35 questions was run in three languages (English, French and Spanish) to evaluate the usefulness and satisfaction of D-NET users. The response rate to the survey laid at around 21%. The majority of the respondents (33%) were diabetes educators. 78% of people showed a satisfaction rate equal or higher than 4 out of 5.
