Abstract

This report presents the results of the 2009 policy supporting research on international ecological networks development within the framework of the Policy Support Research Program of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. The research identifies priority eco-regions worldwide where the Netherlands can concentrate its efforts in eco-regional development and ecological network initiatives, considering the ecological, economic and institutional factors. A three steps assessment approach is presented for selection of countries, and their prioritization, including a multiple criteria analysis. A short list of seventeen countries in Africa important to the Dutch development relations in the field of eco-regional development has been identified
