Abstract

Chelates are applied in horticulture to complex (micro-)nutrients in order to improve the availability for the uptake by plant roots. In this report an overview is given of relevant literature about their functions and of the factors that affect the action of complexing agents. The effects on the availability and uptake by application in soils and growing media are being treated. Both natural- and synthetic chelating compounds are given attention in this report.
