Labour is still important as one of the main production factors in agriculture. It plays not only an important role due to the high share of the production costs, but also do the human behaviour factors play an important and even increasing role on many farms. One may think of the quality of work to get sufficient labour force on the farm, about the motivation of regular workers to stay on the farm, the health care problems due to less good labour circumstances and the like. The calculation of labour costs as well as the possibilities to decrease the labour costs require adequate labour standards. A Working Group was established to harmonise definitions and algorithms concerning task time calculations for field work operations and to set up and test procedures for an international sharing of data collection and mutual exchange of data. This report is the result of the work of the Working Group.
