    Abstract

Landscape degradation is everywhere, but degradation can be restored – not by just planting trees, but by letting local people define what needs to be restored, according to Cora van Oosten, Human Geographer at Wageningen University & Research and member of the Wageningen Biodiversity Initiative: “It’s their lands and their lives that are at stake.”
