Basiskaart Natuur 2017 : een landsdekkend basisbestand voor de terrestrische natuur in Nederland

Abstract

The Nature Base Map 2017 (Basiskaart Natuur 2017, or BKN2017) is a geodatabase of nature in the Netherlands. It is a raster database with a cell size of 25 x 25 metres. The database includes 13 land use classes, each with its own code and descriptor. The most important part of the database is the area of nature (natural and semi-natural ecosystems); according to the definition of nature used in BKN2017, the total area is t 656,010 ha. This area includes the following land use classes: natural grassland (code 11), heath (30), forest (40), reed marsh (80), drift sand (90) and dune, beach and sand banks (91). BKN2017 has not yet been validated for use in monitoring.
