Abstract

This book describes tools which can help in better understanding of disease occurrence and disease patterns. Using such tools will result in more adequate disease control on the one hand, and in sound health care decision-making and preventive action through e.g., risk management on the other. Skills in handling quantitative epidemiological methods have been identified by the World Health Organization in the 90's as one of the domains in animal health care where more training of both professionals and undergraduates is needed. The text is a compilation of short theory lectures and many case study elaborations on quantitative epidemiological methods.
