Abstract

A procedure for designing a predictor of an infinite dimensional linear system is sketched, while preserving the original physical structure contained in the original PDE. After discretization (resulting in a model of order n) and a ztransformation, a discrete input-output mapping is obtained. After reparametrizing the input-output mapping the estimation problem is reduced to linear regression. Reparametrization of the linear regression model with the uniquely estimated parameters into an appropriate input-output form will give the desired predictor
