Actualisatie CLO-indicator ‘Ecosysteemkwaliteit’: Beschrijving van methoden en resultaten

The ‘Ecosystem quality (area)’ indicator was developed for the Environmental Data Compendium to assess the ecosystem quality of the Dutch national ecological network and the changes in ecosystem quality over time. This report describes the indicator method and the results obtained over the period 2012–2023. Just over 25% of the surface area of terrestrial nature has a moderately high to high ecological quality in terms of the presence of species of breeding birds and butterflies that are indicative of the quality of an ecosystem (qualifying species). In general, the quality of the majority of the area of terrestrial nature (80%) is stable.
