Acoustic porpoise research on the Eastern Scheldt - Part 1

Research output: Non-textual formDigital or Visual Products

Abstract

Harbour porpoises use clicks to hunt and communicate. These clicks can tell us something about porpoise behaviour, and perhaps even about the presence of calves. Research has shown that the clicks of a newborn porpoise are different from the clicks of an adult. Together with the Rugvin Foundation, we searched the Oosterschelde for porpoises with calves, and tried to record their sounds with an underwater microphone.
