Abstract

Oostenbrink discusses the genus Paratylenchus pointing out that the synonomy of the type species P. macrophallus, as redescribed by T. Goodey in 1934, has gone too far. He suggests that Goodey had a mixture of species, a view which fits in with his own findings in Dutch collections. He describes and figures a new species Paratylenchus goodeyi n.sp. Of the various types he has found in Holland none fit the original P. macrophallus (de Man, 1880) and he doubts whether he encountered this species in his work. J.B.G.
