Abstract
This chapter discusses and exemplifies the use of a mobile methodology to study the relations between environmental change and human mobility. A mobile methodology allows for a situated and grounded understanding of what it means to move in the context of environmental change; as to how decisions are made and how journeys take shape. The chapter proceeds in discussing ways to increase the interdisciplinary character of a mobile methodology. In particular, drawing on a study done in Bangladesh, it explores the use of connecting grounded experiences of environmental changes with Earth Observation satellite data to obtain a deeper understanding of the interplay between socio-political and environmental factors shaping land-change and mobility decisions. The chapter ends by reflecting on the limits of a mobile methodology; How far can researchers go in tracing trajectories and grounded experiences? And what can be done to make this method more ethically sound?
