Project Details
Description
In the Knowledge Agenda "Zuidwestelijke Delta 2013" (southwestern delta) the theme "fresh water supply" and the theme "Haringvliet and the impact on the Brielse Meer" have been included. The first theme focuses on the impacts of drought, water shortage and salinisation in agriculture, nature and possibly other functions due to climate change and internal salinisation. The second theme issues the option to change to function of the storm surge barrier from permanently closed to a situation of closing the barrier only when safety is at risk and the impacts of this action on the safety of the Rhine-Delta cities, the beneficial impact for the estuarine dynamics and the effct on the freshwater supply.
Tranche 2 €ureyeopener 3.0
Purpose of this project is to further develop €ureyeopener into a version 3.0, and to document the application, to validate the application for the Zuidwestelijke delta and Rijnmond-Drechtsteden and to create a basis for applications of the programme Zoetwater Zuidwestelijke Delta, which is part of the Deltaprogram. Basic assumptions for the possible applications are:
- €ureyeopener 3.0 may be used to calculate the effects, costs and benefits for subareas of the Zuidwestelijke Delta, and thus proves a good fundament of the selection procedure for fresh water
- €ureyeopener 3.0 can be used as a foundation for regional measures in the use of freh water strategies
- €ureyeopener 3.0 proves a valuable addition to the results of the national modelling instruments (Deltamodel)
