Description
The connection between Wageningen University (WU) and Wageningen Research (WR) is essential for fostering integrated academic and applied research excellence. One key aspect of this collaboration is the joint supervision of PhD and EngD candidates. WR researchers often act as (co-)supervisors, contributing their practical expertise and insights to academic research projects. This close cooperation enhances the quality, relevance, and societal impact of doctoral and engineering doctorate studies. In addition to joint supervision, the WU–WR connection also plays a crucial role in building and supporting WUR-wide communities. These communities bring together researchers, educators, and professionals from across WU and WR to collaborate on shared themes, exchange knowledge, and stimulate innovation. Whether organized around specific research domains, societal challenges, or emerging scientific topics, these communities help break down silos, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthen WUR’s position as a leading knowledge institution. Together, WU and WR contribute to impactful science and solutions for society.
