Project: LNV project

Project Details

Description

Corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly important. This includes producing food in an animal friendly way. Companies in the Dutch aquaculture sector want to innovate by further improving the welfare of farmed fish in an economically responsible way That requires knowledge from a scientific basis about animal welfare criteria for various fish species. Furthermore these criteria should be tested in pilot trials.

The aim of the project is to establish welfare criteria on the density of fish during culture, because density is an important standard for obtaining the BLK 2 stars. Research in the lab focuses on the relationship between density and welfare of Claresse catfish and turbot.
