Description
Cells communicate by exchanging small vesicles that contain information encoded in proteins and genetic material. Viruses exploit this form of communication in unknown ways. This research will identify how these small vesicles help viruses spread or rather betray the virus by setting off the alarm bells of our immune system.
Description
Cellen communiceren door uitwisseling van minuscule blaasjes met informatie die gecodeerd is in eiwitten en genetisch materiaal. Virussen blijken deze vorm van communicatie te exploiteren. Ik ga onderzoeken hoe deze blaasjes virussen helpen te verspreiden of juist het virus verraden door de alarmbellen van ons afweersysteem af te laten gaan.
