Description

This research is supported by the Joint Doctorate Program, funded by the EACEA (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) of the European Commission under Grant AGTRAIN agreement. The project is conducted under the joint support of Montpellier Supagro and CIRAD (France and Burkina Faso). The aim of the project is to understand the role of agroecology in the promotion and implementation of agroecology in Burkina Faso by providing the answer to these research questions: How has the place of FOs in the agriculture policy of Burkina Faso evolved over time? Why and how do the current FOs get involved in the promotion of agroecology, and how do they (FOs and farmers) define the term agroecology or agroecological techniques? How do FOs stimulate their farmers' interest in practicing agroecology? What is the effectiveness of FOs’ stimulation on farmers’ agroecological innovations decisions? The above questions were answered by using a case-study approach. This approach helped to develop in-depth, holistic, and meaningful characteristics of real-life social phenomena.
