Description

Agribusiness in arable production  need better trained workers at vocational level(MBO). To achieve this goal education and agribusiness have founded CIV Agri & Food. CIV's mission is: Train innovative students and workers to enhance the desired developments in agribusiness, both in crop husbandry and management. CIVs Meeting Point arable farming has identified two priority themes:

  • Seed potato production
  • Precision Agriculture

 

In the present project WageningenUR business unit PPO contributes its knowledge to the expert groups.

 

The products will be included in curricula for vocational training and first year BSc  Arable production at CAH Vilentum. For workers in the agricultural sector education packages will be made that can be followed individually. The objective of this project is:

  • Collecting expert knowledge on seed potato production and precision Agriculture and combine it into new teaching modules. The teaching material is produced by the Development Center (ontwikkelcentrum).

Beginning 2014, seven thematic days on seed potato have been organised. The themes are: soil-borne diseases, soil and fertilization, bacterial and viral diseases, storage, mechanization, fungal deseases, entrepreneurial skills, chain from seed to supermarket, business economics. The presentations were made by specialists and presented in master classes for 60 students and their teachers from four vocational schools. The presentations were filmed and will be processed into short videos.

Also on precision Agriculture 7 thematic days have been elaborated. The themes were: tractor and machine guidance, field variation, crop sensors (operation) crop sensors (application), transforming sensor data to job maps (products), working with Geo information (practical), working with Geo information in practice. 4 thematic days were held in 2014 for about 60 students and their teachers from four vocational institutions. The other three thematic days are planned for early 2015. The modules will be evaluated in february 2015. The project will end April 1, 2015
