The LNV vision states that agriculture, horticulture and fisheries are trapped in this current production system that, in addition to good and affordable food, also has various unintended negative consequences for the environment, nature, society and farmers. Closing nutrient cycles and agroecology are important topics for farmers and policymakers who are working on better practices and policies for the realization of circular agriculture. This research will result in two studies in early 2022. The first is about the capacity to change of farms in the sectors dairy, laying poultry and arable farming. The second study examines the different narratives and tensions between different types of land-based dairy farming manure practice and policy and formulates policy recommendations that help to take steps forward in the search for a balanced nutrient cycle in Dutch dairy farming. The results of these studies and the choices made by the new cabinet will form input for a workshop with the steering group in February 2022 to make choices for this BO study in 2022 and 2023.
