Description

This project is a collaboration of the Public Administration and Policy Group (PAP) and the Strategic Communication group (COM) of Wagenigen university and research. The project is embedded in the EU-funded program (Horizon2020) “Towards SUstainable and REsilient EU FARMing systems (SURE-Farm)”. SURE-Farm is led by Wageningen University & Research, includes 16 partners (13 countries) and has a strong transdisciplinary approach
The European farming system is characterized by a complex multi-level governance context and various policies which directly affect farming activities. The Common Agricultural Policy and its various national transpositions is the most overarching policy framework. This project aims to (i) analyse to what extent these policies enhance the resilience of the farming sectors; and (ii) assess how the policy framework can be improved to better support the resilience of European farming systems. The research is carried out in Wageningen, and should lead to a PhD dissertation. In addition the candidate will work closely with two other Wageningen-based PhD students, and the other members of the SURE-Farm consortium, and will regularly travel to these partners for collaborative work and meetings.
