Description

There is a worldwide growing interest for raw materials, including timber. Sustainable forestry if of great importance to guide the demand for timber so conservation of other forest values such as biodiversity and public goods are safeguarded. The Netherlands, as a member state of the European Union, has legislation and oblogations for its own teritory, but also has policy objectives for sustainable forestry in countries outside the European Union. The Netherlands wants to be prepared to question from abroad about the situation of sustainable forestry in The Netherlands itself.

The aim of the project is to gain insight in the situation of sustainable forestry in The Netherlands.

By means of a quick scan, the most relevant policy documents of governmental and non-governmental organizations are screend on criteria and instruments for sustainable forestry.

Results of this quick scan will be shortly presented in a report which will be available through the internet.
