The Sustainability Consortium (KB-30-004-003)

The goal of this project is the development and application of a standardised sustainability prioritisation and improvement  system in which leading tools are integrated and by means of which progress can be measured. The system is applicable for all companies over the world, to create a management cycle of continuous improvement in sustainability . In this way, it will make food more sustainable.

The integration of sustainability into the purchasing policy of organisations at the end of the supply chain, is crucial to create a strong pull for sustainable products. These organisations (like retailers) often have a broad range of product categories. If they want to improve on sustainability, they have to work with tens of different standards and tools that all individually may help to solve part of the bigger issue, but do not lead to a consistent overarching approach.  This makes it very challenging for them to develop a consistent, efficient and pro-active system of continuous improvement.
