The distribution and evolution of inert and reactant scalars: from the atmospheric boundary layer to continental scales

    Project: NWO project

    Project Details

    Description

Current challenges in atmospheric sciences are to advance ou understanding on how the atmosphere interact with the biosphere. To this end we investigate the weather, climate and air quality using a hierarchy of computer models. Our approach is to study in an integrative way atmospheric phenomena that occurs at very small scales (turbulence, clouds) and their impact at larger scales (regions and global). We pay special attention on changes that occur in the biosphere such as rapid urbanization and deforestation. The outcome of our numerical studies enable us a moer accurate quantification of climate change in the Earth system
