Description
The European Common Fisheries Policyis currently being reviewd. The European Commission has identified a number of shortcomings in the current policy. It concerns problems that sofar have not yet been solved, such as: unclear and contradicting objectives, overcapacity, a lack of industry repsonsibility, a decision making system that encourages a focus on the short term, and discards. The European Commission wants address these issues through a reform of the policy. This project will make recommendations how to do this.
The central aim of this project is to design a governance system, adjusted to the local context, which will meet the sustainability goals of the EU, and at the same time has the support of the stakeholders.
