Sleutelfactoren in het achterland voor het realiseren van de Natuurambitie Grote Wateren (BO-11-018.01-004)

The nature-policy of the ministry of Economic Affairs ("Natuurambitie Grote Wateren") describes the ambition of the ministry to develop nature along large surface waters in the Netherlands. This is the area where various realisation programs were launched (Hoogwaterbeschermingsprogramma, Deltaprogramma), which pose a chance to combine the ambitions for nature with the aim of the realisation projects (e.g. flood protection/strengthening of dykes). This research gives an overview of regional implementation projects for flood defence in the period 2015 – 2021. Based on specified criteria a selection was made of projects that can create opportunities to combine flood defence goals as well as realise ambitions for nature. The result is a map of opportunities and a clear explanation why these projects can create opportunities for nature and what is needed from the Ministry of Economic Affairs to realise this.
