Description
Kwashiorkor is a form of severe childhood malnutrition which remains a scientific and medical enigma. Although these patients suffer great health consequences and a high case-fatality, we remain in the dark about its
pathophysiology and causes. In our study we will join the strengths of epidemiology and machine learning to study the clinical and biochemical measurements of 4000 children from 13 countries. We will shed light on the clinical picture and driving pathophysiological mechanisms of kwashiorkor. With our results, we are one step closer to developing adequate interventions and specialized treatments. Helping each child not only to survive, but to thrive.
