Secondment (KB-52-001-004)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

Secondment refers to the practice of temporarily assigning WR (Wageningen Research) employees to work at Wageningen University, other universities, knowledge institutions, or partner organizations involved in scientific research and development. This arrangement facilitates in the first place knowledge exchange from WU to WR. Secondly, it allows WR employees to contribute their expertise to collaborative or independent projects outside their primary workplace while maintaining their employment status at WR. Secondments are typically arranged to support temporary staffing needs, facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen strategic partnerships, or enhance professional development. Through secondment, WR fosters greater cooperation with academic and research institutions, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensures that scientific knowledge and innovation flow freely across organizational boundaries. The temporary placement can vary in duration and scope, depending on the nature of the collaboration or project. Ultimately, secondment helps build long-term relationships between WR and its external partners, contributing to a more dynamic and responsive scientific community that can address complex societal challenges through shared knowledge and joint efforts.
