Project Details
Description
Although, as far as known, none of the Simbu serogroup viruses have been reported to be excreted in semen or embryos, questions have been raised about the potential risk of transmission of Schmallenberg virus via semen and embryos. In order to investigate if bulls may excrete Schmallenberg virus in semen, the aim is to investigate if acutely infected (potentially viremic), bulls produce SBV contaminated semen. For this, an experiment is set up by inoculating 2 bulls and prospectively follow possible contamination of semen produced.
