Description

Currently, many stream restoration projects are being carried out in the Netherlands, commonly aiming at a more natural appearance and a better ecological state of streams. RiverCare is large research programme (submitted to STW) focussing on knowledge development for sustainable river management, including smaller streams. A part of RiverCare (project C1) aims at knowledge development serving application of 'Building with nature' concepts in stream restoration.

The RiverCare project in the KB14 programme has the following objectives:

  • Connecting the science in the STW project RiverCare to stream restoration practice.
  • Identifying the knowledge needed for application of 'Building with Nature' concepts in stream restoration.
  • Identification of possible cases for application of 'Building with Nature' concepts in stream restoration.
  • Elaboration of 'Building with Nature' measures in stream restoration.
