Risicoperceptie en –communicatie nanotechnologie in voedsel en landbouw in NL (BO-20-006-002, BO-08-011.02-018)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

There are high expectations of nanotechnology; it has even been dubbed the technology of the future. Little is known about what consumers think of nanotechnology and its application in the food sector. Research in 2010 and 2011 showed that nanotechnology is barely an issue among consumers. In fact, consumers do not really know what nanotechnology is.However, if consumers are given more information about both the risks and the actual application of nanotechnology in food production, they become more critical. Research in 2012 focused on what consumers actually feel about risks and benefits concerning applications of nanotechnology in food products. Research in 2013 focused on the implications this has for (future) risk communication by the Dutch government.
