Project Details
Description
The study addresses the dynamic nature of diets influenced by various factors such as income shifts, urbanization, and food marketing, impacting food environments and dietary choices, especially among adolescents through a mixed-methods approach. The research aims to evaluate adolescent dietary patterns against global and national standards, analyse adolescent’s perceptions of food environments, identify challenges, and co-design interventions to enhance sustainable healthy diet. Quantitative surveys of 960 households per site focusing on food quality adherence will be employed to collect data using purposive sampling from public and private schools involving 15-17-year-olds, integrating diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Leveraging SHiFT initiative data collected in late 2023, the study combines quantitative analysis with qualitative insights from participatory video making and co-creation methods. Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions will examine adolescent food choices and sustainability beliefs, giving a complete picture of healthy diets and helping community-driven food environment improvements.
