Open normen stalklimaat (BO-20-008-018)

Animal welfare is increasingly maintained by 'open standards'. This means that the objective the farmer must comply with is described in abstract terms. Within the framework of the legislation, the farmer may therefore choose his own path to achieve that objective. 

The inspectors need an instruction how to use signal indicators in practice, to determine whether there is reason for further investigation in the realization of the legal goals (open standard climate in pig houses).

In 2015 the preparation for the collection of indicators has been started. In 2016 collection of data on farm will start, followed by an analysis and selection of a limited set of signal indicators. Training materials for inspectors will be developed as well.
