Description

The development of non-GMO gene transfer technology to enable specific genetic element transfer between LAB strains and Bacilli is key to developing and improving food-grade products. In view of the persisting public opinion and attitude towards the use of GMOs in foods and the current legislation environment, there is an imminent need to develop methods that allow the introduction of DNA from food-grade bacteria encoding any desirable trait into a food-grade host organism of choice. Overall the project aims to deliver generic strategies for the construction of industrially robust strains with added functionalities through non-GMO methodologies.
