Project Details
Description
This project aims to exploit the current remote sensing and modeling capabilities to better understand the spatial and temporal distribution of NO2 emissions and concentrations in the Netherlands. The focus lies in estimating a NO2 emission inventory derived from satellite measurements, with reduced uncertainty and improved spatial and temporal resolution compared to existing estimates. In addition, satellite-model comparisons of NO2 columns will be made to constrain these approaches' biases and shortcomings. Further analysis of the modeling outputs will allow an understanding of the seasonality, spatiotemporal variability, and transport of NO2 to and from the Netherlands.
