Project Details
Description
The discard ban is one of the spearheads of the reform of the CFP and member states themselves will have to implement the regulation on a regional level. The subject 'discards' is an issue for the Dutch fishery (especially for flatfish and shrimp fisheries). The ministry of Economic Affairs therefore wants to prepare itself well for the introduction and implementation of the discard ban.
This project focuses on the accumulation of knowledge about the discardban aimed at
- avoiding and processing of catch on board
- the caught quantities of discards to be landed and the impact on fishing quotas
- the survival of bycatch species
- the monitoring and enforcement of the discard ban
