Methodiek ontwikkeling risicogebaseerd monitoren (KB-37-002-008)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is to develop a methodology for setting up risk based monitoring programs in feed and food. These include collection of samples of feed/food ingredients and products, and the analyses for certain types of food safety hazards, in such a way that those product-hazard combinations are included that are most risky to animal and/or human health.

At WFSR such a methodology is designed and used (in another project) for sampling and analyses of feed ingredients and products for certain contaminants (restricted set). In the current KB project, a more generic methodology will be designed which can cover both animal feed and human food.

In the first year of the project (2019), the methodology has been designed for risk based sampling and analyses of contaminants in human food. This method was tested in two small case studies, using a selected set of food products (fish and grain based products) in 2020.

In the 3rd year of the project (2021), a link was made between the metholodologies for feed and for food, and two approaches were developed to combine feed and food. The first approach was further explored and applied to a case study on grains. The second appraoch will be further developed in 2022 and applied on the same case study. Both approaches will then be compared and 1 method will be selected that is appropriate to prioritise chemical risks in feed and food. The method will be discussed with NVWA to evaluate if the designed methodologies are usefull for them in assisting in the design of risk based monitoring programs for food safety hazards in feed and food.
