Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

After climate change, invasive species amount to the second largest long-term threat to the tropical biodiversity of Caribbean Netherlands. Since 2011 Caribbean Netherlands nature policy has actively targeted the invasive species issue. Last year promising starts were made to address the two most imminently threatening terrestrial species on land, namely feral livestock (on St. Eustatius) and feral cats (on Saba. This year these two problem species again form part of the program while a start is made to address the problem of marine invasive species. This year’s program concerns three issues, and accord attention to both  the aquatic and terrestrial realms, address key knowledge gaps but also involve actual implementation and public support by setting examples with successful pilot projects.
