In Vision 2025, The Iranian government has envisioned to diversify the economy to decrease the dependency on the oil industry. One of the pillars will be an more efficient aquaculture chain, from processing of fish to high value consumer products, and residue value.

An integrated value approach (genetics, grow out, processing, marked) is needed to achieve the goal. For this project the begin and end of the value chain were selected, since The Netherlands is able to provide Iran with key knowledge and technology: 1. fish breeding, and 2. processing of fish and residue
