Klimaatrisico's en adaptatie natuur (WOT-04-011-045.01)

Project: LNV project

Project Details

Six ministries (IenW, BZK, LNV, VWS, OCW and JenV) have asked PBL to set up a new monitor of current and future climate risks in the period 2022-2026 (project 'Recalibrating climate risks'). To this was added the request by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management to monitor climate adaptation policies in parallel. In 2023, the first publication (in concept) was completed: the monitor of current climate risks. Coming up next is the exploration of future climate risks, which is planned for late 2025/early 2026. A multi-year, structural monitor is envisioned.

In addition to this question on climate risks and adaptation, the quadrennial, legally required, nature survey is being prepared and the agriculture-nature outlook is underway. It is clear that climate change will pose an increasing threat to the realization of national nature policy goals. For these foresight studies, it is important that the core tools for estimating climate effects on nature and for assessing adaptation scenarios are in place. It is being investigated whether the Bayesian network method for mapping the probability of adaptation measures for nature can be part of the core set of instruments.
