Description
The Dutch implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is aimed at using the CAP (NSP) funds only for food production and not for forests. With the aim of making agriculture more nature-inclusive, there is a need for a policy definition for agroforestry (including criteria) on agricultural land that can be used within the NSP.
Policy must be able to distinguish between the agricultural system of agroforestry, agricultural systems such as intensive fruit cultivation and the categories of forest and landscape elements.
This exploration investigates whether it is possible, on the basis of a common denominator, to arrive at a single definition for all forms of agroforestry that can be used for NSP policy. If this is not possible, additional advice is given on definitions for different types of agroforestry.
