KD-2018-086 Longline visserij op schol (BO-43-023.02-027)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

In the near future, fishing grounds for demersal fisheries such as beam trawling will be limited by, among other things, the construction of new windmill farms where bottom trawl fishing is prohibited. The fishing sector therefore wants to develop an economically feasible alternative with which the target species of the current Dutch beam trawl fishery, such as plaice, can be caught. As an alternative for bottom trawl fisheries, this pilot project therefore focuses on the development of longline fisheries on plaice as a low impact gear. It will have to be examined whether sufficient catch efficiency can be obtained and with which of the tested gears (hook and line types) these catches are the highest and most efficient.
