Kabeljauwmonitoring (BO-20-010-002)

Project: EZproject

Project Details

Description

WMR will monitor the catches of cod in the beam trawl technique (BT)  and the flyshoot and twinrig technique (TR) fleet through an analysis of the landings reported in EU-logbooks in combination with VMS data. The objective of the cod monitoring is to calculate the cod catch per unit of effort. This knowledge is necessary to calculate the sea days exchange rate between vessels with a beam trawl technique (BT) and vessels with a flyshoot and twinrig technique (TR) for an (according to the fleet) more favourable ratio, as is agreed between the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the sector and EU.

The monitoring program is a continuation of the LpUE monitoring program in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the CpUE monitoring of 2011-2013, where catches were reported through a self-reporting scheme for TR-fishers.
