Description
In this study, we will use the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) model to simulate the first-year growth
and survival rates of plaice (Pleuronectes platessa) and brown shrimp (Crangon crangon) under varying
temperature conditions. Our objective is to identify potential enhancements to the temperature
functions within the DEB model to improve its accuracy in predicting the responses of shrimp and
plaice to changing environmental conditions, particularly in the context of climate change and
extensive sand extraction. Additionally, we will conduct simulations to explore, compare, and analyze
different spawning and reproductive strategies among adult plaice and shrimp to assess their effects
on the population.
Moreover, we will investigate how these factors impact the population dynamics of shrimp and plaice,
integrating variables such as various spawning and reproductive strategies, fishing mortality, and food
availability on population dynamic modelling. This will help us to comprehend how these factors are
connected and how they affect the long-term sustainability of shrimp and plaice populations. Based
on our findings, we will propose management strategies to promote sustainable practices for fisheries
and large sand extraction
