Project Details
Description
Shifting precipitation patterns make water regulation increasingly important. Pastures play a large role as they compromise 25% of the land-use in the Netherlands. The burrowing behaviour of anecic earthworm L. terrestris is known to be able to improve water infiltratrion rate and capacity. L. terrestris is native to the Netherlands, however at the level of the individual pasture, it is not present everywhere. This project aims at exploring the possibilities of L. terrestris inoculation and management as an ecological innovation towards more climate adaptive pastures.
