Project Details
Description
This project explores the synergies between concepts of precision agriculture, open data and remote sensing data in relation to food security. This exploration is initiated under the assumption that improvements in data availability through initiatives as GODAN (Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition) will lead to better possibilities for precision agriculture in the developing world and in relationship to small holder agriculture. The project follows a process based approach, in which first the literature will be scanned for main links between the concepts of precision agriculture (or smart farming), open data and remote sensing data, and then through intensive discussions with national and international stakeholders options for international action will be explored and presented in an attractive way for international and national stakeholders. The main outputs thus relate to an understanding of the opportunity space and options for action, while uncovering the potential of these hitherto distinct concepts.
