Project Details
Description
The ecological implications of stopping the drifitng (catching) of swans drives are assessed. Therefore an overview of the literature will be made about the ecology of the mute swan. Supplementary interviews will be done, to collect specific information about the current practice of the drifting of swans, in particular to assess the likely impact on the population size (area, number held lump delusions, implementing acts, etc.). The expected effects one the population within the swan drifting region are placed in the context of the expected development in the entire Dutch population. In addition animal welfare issues at stake will be indicated.
