Project Details

Description

Genomic selection is becoming the state-of-the art method for breeding and selection in livestock species. In more and more plant species, high-throughput genotyping arrays are becoming available, which enables genomic selection in plants.

Biometris and Plant Breeding work on the implementation, evaluation and generalization of statistical technologies for genome-wide prediction of phenotype data and selection of 'genomic breeding values' in plant breeding programs. This takes place within the EU project FruitBreedomics.

Plant Breeding is developing software for the prediction of phenotype data from ~ omics data and selecting good predictor variables (markers, metabolites, proteins, transcripts) as candidate biomarkers for functional components.
